And, this is also a Terrapins squad that just handed Ohio State its most lopsided loss in the Thad Matta Era. The Buckeyes only trailed by four at the under-12 stop in play when they were shooting 8 of 14 (57.1 percent) from the field.
The loss ties the school record as the worst in school history, matching a 35-point loss vs. in in 1928.
Maryland scored a season-high 48 first-half points, going 19 for 30 from the field including 7 for 10 from beyond the arc.
That means Ohio State's defense has to be a team effort like it was during the seven-game winning streak.
What's up with the defense?
Diamond Stone and the Terrapins heads to the locker room after routing Ohio State 100-65 during a noon game at Xfinity Center in College Park, MD on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Maryland was coming off a loss on Tuesday at MI - the first setback for the Terps after eight wins in a row.
"Obviously I'm really proud of my team today". There's certain things that we have to do. "We all wanted this one badly and it feels good to bounce back". There's no way Trimble is going to have back-to-back games with a poor shooting performance. Your help side has to be there and we weren't there. "That's not seeing what has to be done". Michael Citro of Eleven Warriors calls this Ohio State's toughest road schedule since 2008, when they had to do battle with the likes of USC (then ranked No. 1), Wisconsin (No. 18) and Michigan State (No. 20). Maryland was 11 of 21 from three, most of which were uncontested.
During the first half, when the game still mattered, Maryland was 7 for 10 from three. Maryland's last time out ended with a 70-67 loss to MI on Tuesday, ending a nine-game winning streak. The first couple possessions we executed our game plan and then we stopped digging, stopped helping.

The No. 3 Terps (16-2, 5-1 Big Ten) were laser focused coming off a disappointing showing at Michigan Jan. 12. Ohio State is still trying to figure out how to carry over its film sessions to game action, particularly on the road.
"I watched a lot of film last night", he said.
"We don't have a defensive stopper like we've had for the last nine years", Matta said. "I've been doing this for a while and that was one of the best performances I've seen just in terms of them making shots and having their way with us".
Carter, who had been one of the country's most promising big men during his two seasons at Georgia Tech, showed that he is starting to develop fully as a Terp. "We lost but we're still 4-2 (in the Big Ten)".
Robert Carter Jr. of theTerrapins goes after the loose ball.
Pacing the Buckeyes in scoring was sophomore forward Keita Bates-Diop, who had 15 points and 5 rebounds.
Trimble finished the game with 8 points and 9 assists in only 27 minutes. "They're a good team". "Sulaimon was on fire and we hold on a cross-screen when the ball's on the other side of the floor".
Perhaps the lone bright spot in Ohio State's recent run of play has been freshman point guard JaQuan Lyle. The Buckeyes shot just 29.6 percent from the field in the second half, scoring just 17 points in the first 12 and a half minutes of the period. He would finish 10-of-13 from the field and 4-4 on 3-pointers. The Buckeyes did not shoot a free throw in the first half and had only five assists before the break. November 28, 2009 - Buckeyes beat St. Francis (Pa.) 110-47 as Turner has 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Ohio State: The Buckeyes finished with 13 turnovers compared to only seven assists. "We always get here early, whether it's working on ballhandling, shots or post moves or after working on pick-and-rolls", Sulaimon said. The season's not over. We're learning a lot about ourselves.
