Roots rocker and country firebrand Chris Stapleton released a striking video Monday morning for "Fire Away", the latest single off his multiple Grammy and CMA-winning solo debut Traveller.
The video depicts a relationship gone sour through fighting and drinking, before it climaxes with a pair of suicide attempts - the second far direr. The Campaign to Change Direction aims to bring awareness to the Five Signs of emotional suffering. Directed by Tim Mattia and conceived by Stapleton himself (who makes a cameo as a bartender), the video features Ben Foster and Margarita Levieva as a couple experiencing a great deal of hardship and heartbreak as the result of mental illness. Through the enlightenment of the video as well as the detailed information provided on the organization's website, The Campaign to Change Direction hopes to help those in need of changing the perception and culture of mental health issues. The organization's Five Signs of suffering emotionally, which include change in personality, agitation, withdrawal, decline in personal care and hopelessness, are intentionally displayed by Levieva's character to show how symptoms of mental issues are often ignored or overlooked.
