Two weeks ago, we couldn't wait for Sam Bradford to set foot in the Linc.
But the clock was ticking.
And seven days after that, Bradford started for the Vikings against the Packers and threw two touchdowns in a 17-14 Minnesota win in Minneapolis. They were 28th in the National Football League in points allowed in 2015, and have skyrocketed up to #3 in the National Football League so far this year. "I've always said this as a former quarterback: It's hard to defend the ideal pass, and he knows how to put the flawless pass out there". "Tight end coaches aren"t typically involved in top-floor decisions that could alter the course of a franchise. He also said that he has his notes grouped by team, with information on head coaches, coordinators, quarterbacks, and right on down the list of offensive positions.
"So when general manager Rick Spielman included Shurmur in the Vikings" think tank, it wasn"t specifically to quiz him on Bradford. That said, the Eagles might be just the team to get them going, as they are now allowing running backs to rush for 4.8 yards per carry against them. "We're undefeated, so we know that's going to happen", Munnerlyn said. Bradford was tearing it up before the bye, as he'd completed 70.4 percent of his passes with 6 touchdowns, no interceptions and a 109.8 passer rating.
No one can argue after five games that Minnesota made out on the deal. "Sam has been exposed to a number of different systems and offenses, so he had a lot of good input with this offense and teaching points for me".
"The Eagles can"t possibly be looking back either. Remember, Philadelphia swung a trade before the season started that sent quarterback Sam Bradford to Minnesota.
So was the trade a win-win? Cadence maybe, but to be honest, I've talked to him, he's been so involved and heavily studying their playbook, I don't think he's ... "If you"re referring specifically to Sam " Sam"s one piece to the puzzle here.
Stat that jumps out: The Vikings lead the National Football League with a plus-56 point differential.
"Honestly, I think all that stuff's overrated", Zimmer said, with a qualifier that he has grilled Bradford for intel on the Eagles.
"My approach is just try to keep it as normal as possible this week".
It was clear that Bradford did genuinely expect to spend the season with the Eagles prior to the shocking trade to the Vikings, as he spoke highly of the relationships he built with his teammates during his time in Philadelphia.
It's going to be win-lose this weekend at the Linc as one team nearly certainly will prevail.
Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer suggested on a conference call that he couldn't "speak for Philadelphia" in terms of the win-win for both teams assessment. The Eagles have the most penalties in team history to start a season and the offense did not score a touchdown last week. "Some games we get signals from other teams".
"He was getting his legs back a little more each week," Shurmur said. He was throwing the ball with accuracy, with decisiveness.
"There's no point addressing it", said defensive tackle Beau Allen, who could get more playing time if Bennie Logan is unable to return form a groin injury.
Doug Pederson constantly raved about Bradford's character, the way he handled himself in the midst of such a tumultuous situation.
"I was curious," he said.
"When I signed back there, even during training camp, I really developed some close bonds with some of those guys on that team and I looked forward to playing this year there and continuing the chemistry we had built last year".
