The players here at the Cleveland Browns are trying.
The Browns are now 0-11.
Last season, as Funston pointed out, Roethlisberger's numbers weren't much better on the road.
"I was thinking about my father, how he's not here for it", Harrison said before ending the interview prematurely.
The Browns offense was anemic. After the game he said the front office made the offseason roster decisions and has to "lie in the bed" it made.
Prior to the win over the Browns, the Steelers had just 13 sacks on the entire season.
A franchise quarterback is needed, but not behind this offensive line.
Is this rock bottom for the Browns' pass protection?
The Browns offense had 209 yard total yards.
Tomlin said the Steelers escaped Sunday without adding to a long list of injuries, many of which might not change since they have such a short time before playing again. Neither were particularly effective. The game marked the first for Tony Romo to serve as the backup to Prescott, who finished 27 of 36 for 301 yards. The Steelers are 35-6 against the Browns since 1994.
Kessler was replaced by McCown in the third quarter after being slammed down by Steelers linebackers Lawrence Timmons and Ryan Shazier. In his first year with the Cleveland Browns, he has yet to pick up a victory.
DEFENSE BY THE NUMBERS: The defense bounced back from being unable to hold the lead for the final 42 seconds against Dallas. Without those, the offense probably wouldn't have registered a touchdown at all. McCown is a gunslinger who shows no hesitation threading the needle into tight windows.
"I don't want to really get into..."
And with the game sealed, then seemingly slammed shut after Sean Davis returned a fumble for a touchdown that would've given Pittsburgh a 30-9 lead, the play was brought back for a roughing the passer call on Daniel McCullers.
Rookie quarterback Cody Kessler has started eight games this season, including the past three, but he'll be sidelined Sunday because he's in the NFL's concussion protocol for the second time in four weeks.
The wide receivers didn't take advantage of their limited opportunities. That's tough for someone who's paid for catching passes. The Cowboys ran all over the Steelers last week, including the winning 32-yard run with nine seconds remaining. As a smaller back, he is vulnerable to ball security issues. I have to admit, I was all for abandoning the run when it happened. Roethlisberger's 2-point conversion pass was caught by David Johnson.
The Pittsburgh Steelers snapped their four-game losing streak in Cleveland Sunday and regained a share of first place in the AFC North.
Le'Veon Bell scored on the next untimed down.
"I believe that's a discussion that needs to be had", Tomlin said. That is what I came here to do. The problem this season has been the lack of protection. Those guys have a tough job. He is considered one of the best running backs in the National Football League, and Sunday was evidence of that. "We're going to continue to have each other's back", Jackson said. "Our defense played great". We all have a part in it. It appears that Haden has been a good mentor for him. The loss dropped the Bears to 2-8, their worst start since 2002.
The special teams did decent. The Browns punted on the following 4th and 5 at their 41. You can't ask for much more out of three punting opportunities. Not to mention the field goal unit missed a PAT. Kick returns have been irrelevant all season; George Atkinson III had 33 yards on two attempts. It is performances like the one on Sunday that enables teams to treat the Browns like it was a casual afternoon chore.
