Philippine senator and boxing champ Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao says he's willing to fight Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC) Conor "The Notorious" McGregor if McGregor's Floyd Mayweather fight won't push through. UFC president Dana White actually made a formal offer to Mayweather on FS1's "The Herd" - $25 million guaranteed for both men and a split of the pay-per-view revenue.
"Listen, I love Manny Pacquiao, but I don't love Bob Arum", White told Yahoo! However, Pacquiao did state that McGregor wouldn't survive inside the boxing ring with Mayweather if something did happen down the line, as reported in MMA. Now, after his fight with Alvarez, in which he won his 2 championship belt, taunts from Floyd Mayweather came to light.
Mayweather told ESPN's First Take programme that a McGregor bout was the only thing that could tempt him back into the ring.
Nearly two weeks ago, the said match-up went "from pipe dream to exploratory phase".
It's not about money, or not wanting to risk McGregor's reputation, it's about not wanting to do business with fight promoter Bob Arum, who doesn't have the best reputation. However, Mayweather quickly shot that amount down, and is holding out for a cool $100 million. "I didn't see it [footage of Conor sparring]".
"If we are talking about Conor McGregor and boxing, it's different".
McGregor is now the UFC's lightweight champion and is due to find out the next contender to his title after Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov face off at UFC 209 in March.
No wonder he's trying to get on McGregor's radar. "Boxing is different than MMA", he added.
