Some cheeses sold in Tennessee are being recalled over fears of listeria contamination.

Middlebury-based Deutsch Kase Haus LLC notified the company that the Longhorn Colby cheese they supplied must be recalled due to possible contamination of listeria monocytogenes, according to a release from the company.

Meijer's Colby-jack deli horn lot number 110316V08 and Meijer's Colby deli horn lot numbers 110216V05 are also part of the recall.

Meijer has not received any reports of illness because of the cheese. The investigation is ongoing.

Listeria mynocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can lead to Listeriosis.

Sargento also recalled some products that were packaged on the same line as the affected cheese.

Sargento Off The Block Shredded Fine Cut Colby-Jack Cheese, 8 oz., UPC 4610040014 with sell-by date of F05JUL17.

The Meijer brand cheeses were sold in Meijer stores from November 10, 2016, to February 9, 2017.

Sargento Food Inc. has been informed that at least six of its cheese products should be taken off the shelf.

No other Sargento branded products are affected by this recall.

Customers can return the cheese to the customer service desk at any Meijer store for a full refund and may call Meijer at 800.543.3704 for more information.
