According to police, Tokes appears to have died from gunshot wounds.
Police arrested 29-year-old Brian Lee Golsby, who is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated robbery. Goldsby faces charges of aggravated murder, aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery, police said in a statement. According to a GoFundMe page, she was a smart, happy girl, who's "smile and personality would light up any room she was in".
Police found Tokes' naked body on Thursday near an entrance to Scioto Grove Metro park, about 12 miles away from Ohio State, according to ABC.
"Reagan just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time", Police Chief Jeff Pearson said.
This is a breaking news story. His DNA was recovered from a cigarette butt located in Tokes' auto. They believe she was shot to death sometime Thursday morning where her body was found. The woman revealed to the police that her toddler was present in the auto when she was assaulted by Golsby.
She was expected to graduate from Ohio State this spring and planned to move to Cleveland where she hoped to work for Cleveland Clinic. She had been missing since leaving work in Columbus Wednesday night. Tokes' auto had been found near his home, and his home is near the restaurant where Tokes worked. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday at 9 a.m. Golsby was previously arrested for robbing a woman, then two weeks later, robbed and raped another woman in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
On behalf of the Ohio State community, we extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to Reagan's family and friends.
Golsby registered as a sex offender after being released from prison.
University President Michael Drake expressed his appreciation for the police during this investigation. Sgt. Chris White, a Grove City detective, said authorities are awaiting results from a rape kit, but so far they have found no evidence of sexual assault. "We are relieved that this investigation has identified a suspect, and we will continue to support our law enforcement partners as needed".
On Thursday her sister, Makenzie Tokes, posted on Twitter that anyone with information on her whereabouts should let the family know immediately.
"We will always remember Reagan as a vibrant, loving young woman who embraced life".
