She was diagnosed with a brain tumour last January after returning from a skiing trip, and was found dead early on Wednesday morning at her South Kensington home.
Grant Harrold, a former Butler to Princes Charles and Princes William and Harry paid his respects, writing: "I am deeply shocked & saddened to hear Tara Palmer-Tomkinson has died".
The former socialite and reality TV star was reportedly found dead at her London home at 1.40pm on Wednesday by police.
As a London "It Girl" in her 20s, Palmer-Tomkinson became notorious for her hard-partying ways and a not-so-secret cocaine addiction, according to the BBC. "The coroner has been informed", law enforcement told The Guardian.
Her death is being treated as unexplained.
The 45-year-old British socialite was the goddaughter and close friend of Prince Charles.
"But not many people can contemplate Tara's life without it".
Last year, Palmer-Tomkinson, who appeared on the United Kingdom reality show I'm a Celebrity.
She was born in Hampshire in 1971 to landowner and former Olympic skier Charles Palmer-Tomkinson and his wife Patricia, a former model, and, due to their close friendship with Prince Charles, her royal connections were nearly as prevalent as her colourful lifestyle.
She continued: I would use it to give me confidence - that's what it provides, that absolute vacuous false nature of everyone thinking that the sun shines out of your a*** when it really doesn't'.
Recalling her lowest point during her battle with cocaine addiction, she said: "I remember timing my heart because I knew it was going to stop and I remember my telephone was [a few metres away]..."
"I don't go out to public events".
The tumour which Tara Palmer-Tomkinson suffered from kills just a small minority of patients, medical data suggests. "Now, I want to be taken seriously in life".
After winning the show, she went on to release a single in 2012 entitled 5 seconds.
At the time, Miss Palmer-Tomkinson, who has battled drug problems in the past, also revealed that was suffering with an auto-immune disease which had caused tiredness, joint pain and acute anaemia. I get terribly anxious going out, I've only been out (in the evenings) three times this year.
The former Emmerdale actress has shed more than 11 stone and dropped from a size 28 to a twelve, but her efforts to get fit have left her in the firing line.
The show's victor Tony Blackburn Tweeted: 'Very sad news about Tara Palmer -Tomkinson.
She only revealed that she was fighting the tumour late a year ago.
The death is now being treated as unexplained. None of her preexisting conditions have been proven to contribute to her passing, as her cause of death remains unknown at this time.
