The Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz director is returning with his first directed film since 2013's The World's End, which completed the so-called "Three Flavours Cornetto" trilogy with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.
As shown by the trailer, Baby Driver seems to be a facetious take on your average crime movie, and it also happens to be musically driven. That's. pretty much all of the genres, right?
But Baby is slowly realising that maybe someone is making sure this team isn't supposed to make it out with the money alive. Edgar Wright promised a movie that was powered by music, and the first trailer certainly gives us that.
Episode 2 of our brand new podcast The Capital B is here! "Baby" listens to music nearly constantly - a way to drown out tinnitus, or ringing in his ears - and the movie's high-octane auto chases and action sequences are all choreographed to those tracks. Check out the Baby Driver trailer in the player below! There's also Jamie Foxx, Elsa Gonzalez, Lily James, Jon Bernthal and Kevin Spacey. Lots and lots of vehicle chases. Wright also shared that he'd strap himself to the auto during the chase scenes instead of following behind in a second vehicle, so he could better see the action and communicate with his cast.
Baby Driver also stars Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm, Jon Bernthal and Eiza González and is due out on August 11th in the USA and August 16th in the UK.
In other words, we'll see you on August 11, when Baby Driver storms into theaters. He's been coerced into working for a crime boss, played by Kevin Spacey, and is eager to get out from under and escape with his girlfriend, played by Lily James.
