The Full-Time MBA program at UC Irvine's Paul Merage School of Business has moved up four spots to rank 44th among the nation's Top MBA Programs in the 2018 Best Business Schools rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report. Atmospheric science was ranked as the top program in the U.S.by the National Research Council in its 2010 Assessment of Research-Doctorate Programs in the United States. The jump into the top 100 comes nearly four years after the university bought the downtown law school from Texas Wesleyan University for $73.2 million.
History: 9th overall. Ranked specialties include Latin American history (2nd) and modern USA history (5th). The school was once again tied with the University of Virginia for the no. 8 ranking. Biosystems engineering, a collaboration with the UT Institute of Agriculture, ranks 21st.
In the engineering specialty rankings, Baylor's graduate electrical engineering program was ranked at No. 124, while the graduate program in mechanical engineering also was included in the latest rankings but without a numerical rank. Among the specialty categories, UM notably finished No. 5 in accounting and marketing, no. 6 in executive MBA program and part-time MBA program and No. 9 in finance.

The law school rankings were released as law schools across the nation are struggling with declining numbers of people who want to be lawyers. "This honor is a testament to the dedication and hard work of Cornell's extraordinary faculty, students and staff".
U.S. News surveys graduate programs in engineering, law, business, medicine and education annually. In addition, the biomedical/bioengineering program within the engineering school is ranked 3rd in the nation, up from 4th place.
U-M officials note that rankings are just one measure of an academic program. It includes detailed statistical information on more than 1,900 business, law, education, engineering, medicine, and other graduate programs nationwide.
