If you watched the first five or ten minutes of Friday's Michigan State basketball game against Miami, you probably thought the Spartans had no business being in the NCAA Tournament.

One of the featured games tonight in the NCAA Tournament has No. 8 Miami taking on No. 9 Michigan State at 9:20PM ET. Jackson finished 8 of 13 from the field and 5 of 8 from 3-point range with seven rebounds.

The Tar Heels will face eighth-seeded Arkansas - which beat Seton Hall 77-71 - in Sunday's second round. Nick Ward led the Spartans with 19 points while Miles Bridges followed with 18 points of his own.

Jeffrey Carroll, a breakout player for the Cowboys in his redshirt junior season, scored 19.

"All the big games we've played in, I still must have warned them 15 times, but they did some foolish things early, casual things", Izzo said. Devon Reed scored 12 and Bruce Brown had 11 while leading the Hurricanes with four assists.

MI will now face off against No. 2 Louisville in the second round on Sunday. The Arkansas senior big man had three nasty blocks against Seton Hall to go with 23 points and six rebounds in a bounce-back performance from his controversial finish in the SEC Tournament, where he was ejected after a flagrant foul on De'Aaron Fox in the final minutes. Kendall Pollard added 13 points in his collegiate finale. This game will take part in the Midwest Region and air on TNT from Bank of Oklahoma Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Kansas closed the half on a 29-7 run to lead 50-28.

Ward scored 11 points, including a three-point play, and Bridges added six during the key first-half run.

Friday's game actually started off slowly - it was 11-11 at the under-12 timeout in the first half - but then it found its groove, two prolific offenses hitting big shots and coming up with responses, each team rising to meet the moment. They kept up that pace in blowing past the 15th-seeded Trojans (22-15).

Preview: Kansas took care of business against UC Davis on Friday with a dominating 100-62 victory.

Not many people expected the Wolverines to get this far, let alone advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Aggies smelled upset early, were shooting unusually well and led at halftime, but the Bears blew it open with a 53-point second half, switching its defense along the way and attacking the rim. Winston made a pair of free throws and Ellis capped the scoring with a three-point play to put Michigan State up 11 heading to the locker room.

Iona kept pace with some insane 3-pointers, but OR overwhelmed them in the paint. No pressure on the Spartans, who had to fight to get into the NCAA tourney.

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Arkansas did just enough in the final minute to push its way through the NCAA Tournament's first round - aided by a couple of eye-catching calls and noncalls by the officiating crew, too.
