Director of Community Relations at the Jewish Federation of Greater Rochester, Karen Elam, said it was not clear how long ago the vandalism had happened.
Over the weekend more than 100 headstones were discovered damaged at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Northeast Philadelphia.
Rochester's local Democrat & Chronicle reported in an interview with the non-profit's president, Michael Phillips, that he doesn't want to, "label it (the vandalism) anti-Semitism". Following the desecration of the St. Louis cemetery, Muslim civil rights activist Linda Sarsour raised more than $100,000 to fix the damage.
Hundreds of people gathered on Independence Mall for a Stand Against Hate rally on Thursday, in a show of support for Philadelphia's Jewish community. A $69,000 reward is available for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the crime.
A Rochester police spokeswoman says no suspects are in custody, but authorities are investigating.
In the past month, Jewish day schools, community centers and synagogues have been targeted by more than 180 bomb threats.
"The Justice Department, Homeland Security, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the White House, alongside Congress and local officials, must speak out and speak out forcefully against this scourge of anti-Semitism impacting communities across the country", said David Posner, an official with JCC Association of North America.
In August 2014 vandals shoved over close to 40 headstones at Britton Road Cemetery.
