"This is my house!" he yelled at the crowd late in the game.
Russell Westbrook became the second player in National Basketball Association history to average a triple-double for a season, but failed for the second game in a row to break Oscar Robertson's single-season record for most triple-doubles.
After a few of his buckets in the fourth quarter, Booker yelled at the crowd: "This is my house!" adding a profanity on one occasion.
Bryn Forbes scored a career-high 27 points to lead San Antonio's 102-89 romp over Dallas. They will be shackled by a franchise-record 13-game losing streak when they face the Thunder.
After shooting 56 percent in the first quarter, the Suns bettered themselves with a 68.4 shooting performance in the second quarter. Wayne Selden scored a career-high 13 points for the Grizzlies, who took control with a 16-2 spurt in the final period. The Suns led by as many as 28 points, 71-43, before going into the locker room with a 71-48 advantage. This gave Phoenix extra possessions for Booker to throw up shots, hence the reason he was able to reach 70 points. Johnson finished with 13 points off the bench, one of three Detroit reserves to score in double figures.
The Lakers beat the Kings, 98-94 behind Julius Randle's 25 points.
Westbrook has three more chances for his 42nd triple-double.
He missed his first 11 shots before sinking a 17-footer with 50.4 seconds left in the half.
The Suns have only lost one of their last five games but double-digits so they're doing a great job of avoiding blowouts despite their obvious tanking tactics, but I think the Thunder will be too much for them as Westbrook aims for that record-breaking triple-double. Westbrook clinched the milestone with an assist to Victor Oladipo on a fastbreak layup.
After the game, when a reporter asked him about "hunting assists", Westbrook had a blunt response. While Booker was icing the game for the Suns on one end - scoring 37 points on the night - the team held Westbrook to only 8 assists. With the win, Oklahoma City improved to 45-33 on the season which is still good for sixth place in the Western Conference standings.
That's not to downplay Robertson's achievement, but the Royals had other guys to go to if he wasn't playing well and that's a luxury the Thunder don't have.
Suns improved to 10-1 when holding opponents under 40-percent shooting.
Four days after their city hosted the NCAA Tournament championship game, basketball fans in Phoenix could get an opportunity to witness Westbrook break the record set by Oscar Robertson in 1961-62.
Westbrook got off to possibly his worst start of the season in Phoenix. Also, the Phoenix Suns win 22 matches in this season.
