President Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, sat in for the president among world leaders at a G20 session on Saturday. According to the Washington Post, on Thursday evening, she and her husband-who like his wife has an official role in the White House-joined the president at a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
"When other leaders stepped out, their seats were also briefly filled by others", the official added.
A White House official confirmed Ivanka Trump sat in for Mr. Trump when the president of the World Bank began addressing the session. If she weren't my daughter, it'd be so much easier for her.
President Trump praised Ivanka during the meeting for the fund, suggesting that the spotlight that comes with being his daughter is the biggest difficulty she faces.
A White House official told DailyMail.com that the younger Trump's fill-in role was nothing out of the ordinary.
"I wasn't elected by the American people to be president", she told "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King.
What qualifications and experience does Ivanka Trump have in her background that should put her at the table with world leaders like Theresa May and Vladimir Putin?
Per The Telegraph, a head of state will often allow an appointed representative to take his or her place while he or she conducts meetings or other private conversations, but this marks the first known instance in which a daughter served as a proxy.
But asked what specific consequences Russian Federation might face following the meeting Friday, she replied, "I think you're going to have to ask the president".
That facility, a women's entrepreneurship empowerment fund, was spearheaded by Ivanka and has grown to $300 million with the help of a $50 million US donation.
