More details about Doomfist, Overwatch's most popular unplayable character, have emerged. In a previous update for the game, various parts of the Numbani map have been damaged, alluding to Reaper reclaiming Doomfist's gauntlet.
I'm sure we all had our doubts yesterday when Blizzard posted to their official website an article outlining the hero every Overwatch player has been waiting for: Doomfist. Doomfist's name is Akande Ogundimu, and he was apparently held in a maximum security prison, only to be broken out by the game's antagonistic organization, Talon. In the run up to the revelation of the most recent hero, Orisa, that gauntlet featured again - somebody seemingly destroyed some bots in the airport section of the Numbani map, and stole the Gauntlet from the glass container it was kept in on the map's payload. The incident, which was previously theorized to be done by Doomfist, was confirmed through the news report.
Ever the elusive character for Blizzard's hit shooter Overwatch, fans have chomping at the bit for any and all news they can find on his potential introduction into the game. Doomfist could very well be the newest hero added to the Overwatch roster, but he was also teased when Orisa was added to the game. Security initially reported that the craft had no passengers on board, based on radar scans.
Blizzard posted a link from the official Overwatch Twitter account, naming the character who instigated the Numbani attack, which was revealed in earlier reveal.
"The craft passed through the range of the installation's defense systems without incident, leading some to believe that Talon has moles within Helix". Actor Terry Crews has been campaigning for the role of Doomfist all year, which has led to him visiting Blizzard's headquarters, meeting members of the Overwatch team like Lead Writer Michael Chu, and filming a mock audition video.
The current Doomfist is named Akande Ogundimu, according to the article, and was freed from prison by Talon operatives, including Reaper. Is Doomfist a hero that will be officially introduced in the coming months?
