Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad have called separate meetings of lawmakers in Patna on Sunday, as a part of the preparation for Monday's presidential polls, media reports said. Mr Kumar, during a meeting last week, said he wanted a public clarification from RJD top leaders over the allegations, and also indicated he expected Mr Yadav to resign from the post.
Contrary to a claim by RJD leaders, all four Independent MLAs, namely, Anant Kumar Singh (Mokama), Rinku Singh (Valmikinagar), Ashok Chaudhary (Kanti) and Baby Kumari (Bochaha), seemed to have voted for Kovind, going by their activity on the assembly premises. "I appeal to Nitish Kumar with folded hands to solve the crisis and save Mahagathbandhan from split", he said, adding that the BJP has been trying to split the alliance.
