To that end, Apple debuted a pricey bit of advertising with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson this weekend, a almost four-minute-long extravaganza: The Rock x Siri Dominate the Day.

The movie is named The Rock x Siri: Dominate The Day, and it will be released on YouTube.

Thanks to Apple, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson can boast starring in yet another movie.

Johnson hyped the ad on social media Sunday morning with characteristic hyperbole, calling it "the biggest, coolest, sexiest, funnest (is that a word?) movie ever".

Actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Smart speakers and virtual assistants have been arguably the biggest trend in technology over the previous year, with the arrival of the Amazon Echo and Google Home - and the voice assistants they house - catapulting artificial intelligence into the mainstream.

The almost four minute ad takes on the premise that the Rock has such an impossible schedule - 25 appointments scheduled at 7:15 for instance - that he needs Siri's help. So when Dwayne Johnson speaks, people tend to listen and the man known as The Rock had something to say this weekend. The 11-minute movie, called "Détour", was shot entirely on the iPhone, and was accompanied by six short tutorial videos with some video capturing tips for iPhone users.

The commercial seems to have been launched to coincide with the release of Apple's new HomePod.

Apple has uploaded the new movie to its Siri subsite, but you can also check it out below.
