KXIP vs KKR Live Score

The Eagles dealt starting receiver Jordan Matthews and a third-round pick to the Buffalo Bills for cornerback Ronald Darby.

It was evident that the Birds needed help at corner. In his rookie season two years ago, he had two interceptions, but none last year.

Even given Watkins' problems staying healthy since entering the National Football League as the fourth overall selection in 2014, he is a far-and-away better talent than Matthews. Darby was considered their top cornerback on the depth chart. Brooks looks like he has recovered from his quad injury, but the team still seemed to be lacking that reliable player at the position. It's hard to find those guys.

The Bills' front office was boosted by an offseason regime change that saw first-year coach Sean McDermott get more say in personnel moves.

As for what the Eagles are getting in Darby, Roseman said: "He has rare speed".

Despite what some might consider inflated numbers, Matthews' production is unquestionable. He's played a variety of coverages, he won a national championship at Florida State. He was second in the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year vote in 2015. There's no insurance on any of these things. Sam, was the first openly gay player to ever be drafted in the NFL. Gaines, as well as second- and third-round picks in 2018.

There's no denying Matthews' production - 225 receptions for 2,673 yards and 19 touchdowns in three seasons - or work ethic.

Eagle's QB Carson Wentz reacted to the news on Instagram, saying, "Crazy part of this business. "(Matthews) you'll always be my boy both on & off the field. His teammates flooded social media in the wake of the trade to wish him the best. The one other thing that this trade does is make it clear that the intention will be to extend Alshon Jeffery's contract next year. In the final year of his rookie contract, Matthews will be eager to get on the same page as new quarterback Tyrod Taylor, but with Andre Holmes, Anquan Boldin and rookie Zay Jones now representing his top competitors for targets, the 25-year-old should like his chances of finally topping the 1,000-yard mark. A disappointment the past two seasons in San Francisco, Smith has upside with the Eagles. I'll tell you right now, he ran away from people at the Senior Bowl. With this move, the team, for lack of a better term, killed two birds with one stone. Certainly we know the production he had. Matthews is a talented young player with loads of potential.

Speculation has mounted during training camp about Jordan Matthews's future and role with the team as Nelson Agholor has been a standout throughout camp. Don't discount Mack Hollins earning some time there, as well.
