Same hotel as before?

She'll get another chance on Sunday.

In other quarterfinal matches, defending champion and second-seeded Simona Halep of Romania faced off with Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia while fifth-seeded Elina Svitolina of Ukraine challenged fourth-seeded Spaniard Garbine Muguruza. The former world number jumped into a 3-1 lead in the second set before allowing Stephens to rally back.

"I just kept fighting and just kept doing my thing", Wozniacki said. She then held serve and followed with another break to lock up a spot in the final four. Svitolina was one game away from sweeping Halep in the French Open quarterfinals two months ago before an epic collapse that saw her on the wrong end of a 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-0 result.

Elina Svitolina crushed Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 6-0 to win the Toronto WTA trophy on Sunday, capturing her fifth title of 2017 and her second final of the season over the former world number one. "Even my serves, even some of the groundstrokes". Svitolina is having the best season of her life and whilst Wozniacki is in the midst of a comeback of sorts.

"(Pliskova) had a great year and she's been playing really well. With the World No. 1 up next, Wozniacki will be put to the test. "I didn't expect this type of day but I'm very happy that I could stay very focused".

The pair played twice in the day after rain disrupted the schedule. Sloane Stephens continued to her return to tennis following a foot injury by soaring past the slumping Angelique Kerber 6-2, 6-2. The Russian dispatched her quickly as Williams lost in straight sets 2-6, 1-6.

"Last week, I said eventually I was going to beat someone - so three people, it's pretty good", said Stephens who now meets Lucie Safarova.

"Today, I was very focused and I learned a lot from that experience, which of course was very painful".

Svitolina wasn't fazed as her consistency and power game proved to be too much. She dropped to No. 74 last August but has returned to form of late.

Wozniacki is a 2010 Rogers Cup victor. Wozniacki did win their most recent hard-court match at Miami earlier this season. However, she is now winless in six championship matches this year. "(I'm) getting older and the body can't handle the same as it used to when I was 18, 19. "I'm just playing better".
