This is the second ceasefire violation within 24 hours, as Pakistani troops also resorted to firing at Indian soldiers along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district around last midnight.
The jawan injured in the sniper attack died during treatment, the army said. Army sources said the Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire and targeted a forward post at Mankote-Balnoie sector in the district.

He told the Indian diplomat that despite calls for restraint, India continued to indulge in ceasefire violations with more than 600 such incidents along the LoC and the Working Boundary.
Today's ceasefire violation came hours after Indian soldiers successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by Pakistani terrorists in Machil sector of Kupwara district.
