Then came the proposal we have all been waiting for.
With seemingly gale-force winds blowing at an abandoned castle, Bryan strings together his final series of clichés about his love for Rachel, and she predictably fawns over him. But at the end of the day, something unusual happens between Bryan and Rachel.
Following a visit from famed jeweler Neil Lane, Bryan met Rachel atop a picturesque Spanish estate with a diamond ring in hand.
And Bryan? He wasn't all that complimentary about his final rose rival.
"There really wasn't any issue moving forward in our relationship, so my confidence remained sky-high throughout and I didn't have any reason to think otherwise", Abasolo said. Maybe we shouldn't have been so sure?
As for whether he would be ready to take the Bachelor leap, he says he needs more time to process everything, but he wouldn't rule it out. It's an awkward exchange, but it's a prime showing for Eric and a decent justification for why he should be the next Bachelor. Peter said he wants a wife and kids and to go to football games and picnics or whatever with Rachel, but he didn't take the step to get there. They have an unbelievable time.
Hometown visits were no walk in the park for Bryan and Rachel.
"It was like an out-of-body experience to hear the words that he was saying to me", Lindsay told People of the experience. Rachel says they are really falling in love with each other and feels there has to be a way to fix this and make it right; she doesn't question his feelings for her but he is just fighting it and they just need more time to sort this thing out. Then Peter comes out and he still can't believe that she chose Bryan.
Any doubts and reservations were washed away after Bryan said his opening remarks. "That gown, another custom similar gown, or a collection version (more affordable one) can all be purchased". But inside of this world, it makes you wonder why our boy is here? That's not a fair comparison considering Peter only went on a few dates with Rachel, but that's a topic for another day. "I feel like he was giving me just enough to keep me and string me along, rather than being forthcoming with everything", she continued. "Then go find someone and have a mediocre life", Peter says. Things got so rough she cried her fake eyelashes off.
I want to shut off #TheBacheloretteFinale but I'm still scarred from going to sleep immediately after La La Land won for Best Picture.
In the finale, everything focused on the drama between Peter and Rachel. Rarely before Peter has it been deconstructed about what exactly that engagement means and how trivially the franchise honestly treats this big moment.
