Compared to competing AI applications, such as Google Assistant and Apple's Siri, Bixby is deeply integrated into supporting Samsung devices, allowing it to manage any task that could also be carried out by touch or text, the company said. "In the future, Bixby will have the learning power to offer more intelligent and personalized interactions and seamless connections across more devices".
Samsung has expanded availability of its voice assistant Bixby's voice capabilities to more than 200 countries globally.
A button on the side of the Galaxy S8 allows Bixby to be activated. "Get started by saying, "Hi, Bixby", tweeted Samsung SmartLife. However, this is the first time when Samsung has outrightly confirmed the existence of such device and also confirmed its arrival. We think making a smart speaker to showcase Bixby seems like the logical next step for Samsung. Mind you, Samsung announced earlier on Wednesday, while on stage at its Unpacked event, that users of Bixby can soon use voice control to play music through Spotify. I am already working on it.
However, with Amazon Echo and Google Home in a fierce arms race to one-up each other, (and Apple's Siri-powered HomePod arriving on store shelves this December) we hope the smart speaker market isn't too crowded in time for the supposed Vega's launch - for Samsung's sake. It didn't take long before another report said that Samsung might not be making a smart speaker after all.
