US gasoline futures spiked 14% to $2.163 per gallon in recent trading.

The pipeline has been limited due to the effects of Harvey.

The AAA said early Wednesday - the latest data available - that retail gasoline prices were up 6 cents from a week ago at $2.404 per gallon of regular gasoline nationwide.
One caller said it is $2.55 a gallon on Gordon Road. In all of SC, on average prices have spiked about 22 cents since last week.
"Because of the shortage, you will likely see a price increase in the East Coast, which would incentivize the other refiners to shift gasoline yields", Rogers said.
Major pipelines carrying gasoline and diesel fuel to Midwest and East Coast markets have been either throttled back or shut because of reduced supply.
Other Port Arthur refineries also shut overnight, including Total's plant, where sources familiar with plant operations say they expect the water to recede by the weekend.
The supply crunch is already being felt in Dallas-Fort Worth, where QuikTrip, one of the nation's largest convenience store chains, is temporarily halting gasoline sales at about half of its 135 stores in the area. Among the reasons: About one-quarter of the Gulf Coast's oil refining capacity was taken offline, according to the Oil Price Information Service. Major refineries in the country have been shut, the largest US pipeline of refined products has gone offline, crude oil production outages and logistical bottlenecks have led to a release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and motorists will be pinched when filling up at the pump for some time.
