Hingis and Murray said they are ready to play the Australian Open together next year.
Taiwanese tennis player Chan Hao-ching (詹皓晴) and her partner Michael Venus of New Zealand lost their mixed doubles title in the final at the U.S. Open on Saturday, succumbing to Switzerland's Martina Hingis and Britain's Jamie Murray 6-1 4-6 10-8.
Andy Murray, who missed the US Open through injury, was watching from home as his brother and female tennis icon Hingis won their second straight mixed doubles title.
The victory in NY is the third mixed doubles title of Murray's career, having also triumphed with Jelena Jankovic at Wimbledon in 2007. Murray said. "Look, she's an fantastic player, she's had such a great career". It's a great country and I'm happy that they let me in and I got to do my job here.
"For us, it's so much fun to go there and play in a huge stadium, a lot of people coming out to watch".
The victory takes Murray's tally of slam titles to five, three in mixed doubles and two in men's doubles, while Hingis has won 24 across singles and doubles.
In July, she and her Romanian partner Monica Niculescu were overwhelmed in the women's doubles final at Wimbledon.
Murray is only the third British man to win the mixed doubles in NY and the first since 1968. It's promoting peace and freedom and liberty. We played a great tie-break.
"The idea came after the tragic incident in Charlottesville, and we came up with this line, promoting peace and freedom and liberty", Rojer said.
"I've been here since I was 12 years old. So hopefully we will create those opportunities for everybody".
