A White House official said that Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were keeping people affected by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma in their prayers, and encouraged everyone to listen to local authorities, reported the Washington Examiner.
In an interview with The Associated Press a year ago, Anthony Senecal, Trump's longtime butler, said: 'It's the safest place in the world for a hurricane'.
Trump National Doral in Miami remains open, but the spokesperson urged guests with reservations to make alternative lodging arrangements outside of the storm zone.
Yet an Associated Press investigation published previous year revealed there was little evidence of large-scale damage to Mar-a-Lago, and that Trump also kept some of the insurance money for his personal use rather than spending it on repairs.
