At an event in Los Angeles new National Basketball Association jersey supplier Nike billed as an "Innovation Summit", a gold Jazz jersey was revealed along with threads for the 29 other teams in the league that Nike is calling the "Statement" jersey.
The Statement Edition jersey is inspired by teams' desire to "make a bold statement the moment they step on the court".
"The color black is a nod to the historic turning point in the 2016 NBA Finals when the Cavs wore their black-sleeved uniforms in Games 5 and 7 of the NBA Finals on their way to winning their first NBA Championship and Cleveland's first major sports title in 52 years".
Nike unveiled the new uni's in grand fashion as they invited one player from each team to model their respective cities.
When Nike took over as the NBA's new jersey brand, they made some changes.
In addition to the jerseys, the players also debuted a new hoody warmup jacket as well.
The new uniforms come courtesy the NBA's new partnership with Nike. Here's how Nike describers it in their press release. To unlock it all, fans will download the NikeConnect app and tap the jersey with their smartphone. Additionally, other exclusive offers and experiences will be unveiled throughout the season. Fans can get the other new ones starting September 29. Each team will have four set uniforms, including an alternate called "statement jerseys".
