Tavecchio was signed by the Packers in March of 2013 to provide competition for Crosby, who was coming off his worst kicking season of his professional career in 2012.
Raiders signed K Giorgio Tavecchio.
Janikowski joined the Raiders as a surprise first-round pick in 2000 and is one of the few remaining ties to late owner Al Davis.
With projections of 2.9 extra points, 2.0 field goals and 9.6 FanDuel points, Janikowski was set to be the highest-scoring kicker in Week 1.
At this point, there is no clear timetable for when Janikowski will return, which means that we could be seeing more of Tavecchio shortly.
The team also reportedly renegotiated Janikowski's contract, cutting his salary from $4 million to $3 million. In 2011, his 63-yard field goal at Denver tied the record for longest in league history at the time. Having him back for the second half of the season would provide a big boost for Oakland.
