The couple was now lodged in Dasna jail in Ghaziabad.
The jail officials said that Rajesh Talwar and his wife Nupur Talwar had not eaten anything since morning and prayed for hours.
Dileep Kumar, counsel for the Talwars, said, "The honourable High Court judges did not agree with this and said many other circumstances could be possible".
Tanveer Ahmed Mir, lawyer for the couple, said they were able to prove that the CBI case had no basis or legs to stand on.
"Grateful to the court for the verdict, we always knew they were innocent,"said Aarushi's grandfather, following the HC verdict".
"I think if there is any way in which we can return to society, in Aarushi name, we will do it".
The order, however, failed to bring a closure to the case and the public opinion remained divided, even after years of the conviction.

She also expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the High Court for acquitting Rajesh and Nupur and thanked all the well-wishers for being with the family in the hard time.
"The High Court observed that they have been punished wrongly". The CBI court convicted them on November 26, 2013.
Aarushi was found murdered inside her bedroom on May 16, 2008. The door of the terrace was found locked from inside.
CBI handed over the investigation to a new team in 2009, who suggested that the case should be closed as there were major gaps in the investigation.
