Originally, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said that security guard Jesus Campos interrupted the shooting, with Paddock firing at him and this exchange causing Paddock to stop shooting at people attending the concert below. Paddock, who had installed three cameras to monitor the approach to his suite, opened fire through the door, firing 200 shots down the hall, injuring the guard, who alerted other security officials.
She said she found it hard to believe that he could be capable of carrying out the October 1 mass shooting on the Las Vegas Strip, which left 59 dead, including Paddock, and at least 480 others injured. "What we have learned is Campos was encountered by the suspect prior to shooting to the outside world", he clarified.

Eric had spoken to ABC News after the bloodshed, and said he was "dumbstruck" by the news, and compared discovering his brother had committed the killings to being "crushed by an asteroid".
"Telling one's story, especially in such a dramatic event, is important to differentiate between what really happened and the negative emotions attached", he said. "We want to figure out the why to this, and we'd like to know the motive".
While ISIS came forward claiming responsibility for the attack shortly after the death toll rose, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has not uncovered connections between the suspect and any foreign terrorist groups.
Reached by phone Wednesday night, Campos told ABC News, "I'm fine".
"Just in general, the sheer size of the space, the amount of personal items that were left there, it's just a huge undertaking", Flood said.
"He cared about everybody's finances, he cared about everybody's cars, he cared about-he actually cared about people", she said, while crying.
