A MA mother on Wednesday accused Kevin Spacey of sexually assaulting her 18-year-old son on the holiday island of Nantucket last year and said police had opened a criminal investigation.
Unruh said an unidentified woman witnessed the incident and "told him to run" when Spacey went to the bathroom of the Nantucket establishment.
Unruh said she has long wanted to say something about what Spacey allegedly did to her son.
Kevin Spacey's appearance in the CBS "Carol Burnett 50th Anniversary Special" has been cut following the flood of sexual harassment and assault allegations against him, Entertainment Weekly confirmed Wednesday.
Spacey's Los Angeles attorney Bryan Freedman was not immediately available for comment. Unruh said she made a decision to speak out after the Harvey Weinstein scandal came to light, with multiple allegations of sexual misconduct, harassment and assault surfacing in bombshell reports by The New York Times and The New Yorker.
Ms Unruh said embarrassment and fear meant her son did not inform authorities at the time, but that he had filed a police report following the tide of allegations against Harvey Weinstein last month.
Nantucket police said they couldn't confirm a report was filed because sexual assault reports are confidential.
According to Unruh's account, her son escaped Spacey's advances after the actor got up to use the restroom. She said watching Spacey host the Tony Awards this past year and be celebrated as a man and actor was "hurtful".
"She saw that my son was shaken", Unruh said of the woman. "He has tried his best to deal with it, but it is always there".
"I want to see Kevin Spacey have the hand of justice come down on him, not just for my son but for the many others who have yet to speak their truth". After the story and further allegations broke, Netflix announced it planned to end House of Cards after its next season. She said her son was unaware that the Hollywood star was a "sexual predator". "That was an appalling attempt to deflect attention away from what you really are: a sexual predator".
