Given that he can do whatever he wants because he's not under contract, Jericho chose to challenge Kenny Omega over the weekend, and now he's set to face Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12 at the Tokyo Dome in January. Pro wrestling can only get so popular.

Following the promo, Omega would speak in Japanese and accept the match.

In addition to being a one-time WCW cruiserweight and legendary WWE undisputed champion, Chris Jericho spent an early portion of his career wrestling overseas in Japan. This also brings Jericho's contract and status with WWE in question and how he'd be able to pull off something like this.

Having started his career with the WWE in 1999, Jericho has vowed numerous times that he is a loyalist of the company which is headquartered in CT, but this highlights a change of heart and possibly a feud between the Canadian and the WWE. Others though so through the charade and knew this rivalry was to spark a match between the two.

Omega successfully defended his IWGP United States Championship against Trent Barreta at the Power Struggle show this weekend and after the match, a video aired where Jericho claimed to be the Alpha of the business.

Should Jericho remain in WWE's plans ahead of WrestleMania in April, he could become just the second wrestler in history to participate in both massive shows in the same calendar year, joining AJ Styles, who did so first last year.
