Blizzcon 2017 saw a flurry of announcements by the blockbuster developer, including the reveal of Moira, an all-new support hero for Overwatch. "Biotic Grasp" is her new short-range healing and damage ability, while "Biotic Orbs" reach longer-ranges via a throwable gadget.
Creative director Jeff Kaplan described the character something of a hybrid character, which is something a bit unusual for Overwatch, but was looking forward to seeing the character in the hands of players-even jokingly describing the characters as "OP AF". The Overwatch: What's Next panel goes live at 3 PM Pacific Time, so we should have more information on Moira then.
However, the reveal trailer has shown that she apparently has ties to both Talon and Reaper, and is possibly the person who stitched Gabriel Reyes back together to create the smokey, psychotic killer that Reaper is today. One of the first things that the company made a decision to unveil was not only a new Overwatch map and animated short, but they showed off a new hero as well. Her right hand fires a long-range beam weapon that saps enemies' health, healing Moira and replenishing her biotic energy. But once free from Overwatch's rule and the world's law, she was able to speed up her research and make what she calls great scientific bounds.
Fade - Moira quickly teleports a short distance.
In addition, Blizzard aired a new animated short for Reinhardt, which was wonderful as they always are. She's essentially Mercy's dark counterpart - she's a healer, but she's got an edgier look, and is a former member of the shadowy Blackwatch division. Her ultimate ability, Coalescence, lets her unleash a beam that will heal any allies caught in it, or deal damage to any foes caught inside of it.
Blizzard World is coming soon to the PTR.
The new map is Blizzard World, a zany theme park map based on all of Blizzard's properties.
Huh. Do you think there's a Heroes of the Storm ride at Blizzard World?
