This is a odd way to handle free copies of a game, but I assume that it is so the company can count the free unlocks easier. After the commercial success of WatchDogs 2 a year ago this month, Ubisoft chose to give Watch Dogs Free through UPlay For A limited time for members of their UPlay service.

Ubisoft's free Watch Dogs promotion will run from November 7, 2017, to November 13, 2017, and only applies to the PC version of the game. That's all that needs to be done, redeeming it will give you access to Watch Dogs for free, forever.

When I reviewed Watch Dogs 2 some time ago, I found it odd that I never reviewed its predecessor.

There is only one caveat to this promotion; you must use Ubisoft's Uplay client to play the game. However, the base Watch Dogs game will keep players busy for a long time, and some might not even find they need the DLC to enjoy the game to its fullest.

Uplay might be a popular butt for a lot of gaming jokes, but what if this is all the work of some nefarious hacker attempting to bring the fantasy of Watch Dogs to life, huh? With that said, the sequel showed how Ubisoft's new Intellectual Property (IP) evolved and how much Ubisoft Montreal learned from the original Watch Dogs.
