Outside of the grandeur of Monolith's latest Switch-exclusive adventure, the game is another key opportunity for Nintendo to flex the season pass model it's used on past Switch titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
A day-one DLC was announced during the stream which will allow players in English-speaking territories to hear the original Japanese voice-acting with English subtitles rather than hearing the English voice-acting, if they should so choose.
Breath of the Wild players on Switch and Wii U will be handed free DLC this week on November 9. Complete the side quest and you'll be rewarded with this special set of armor. It will be available on December 1, 2017 for Xenoblade Chronicles 2. It's up for pre-order on a couple retailers sites now. Towards the end of the video, we actually got a fun surprise for Breath of the Wild in the form of some crossover content from the huge JRPG. The northern hemisphere's spring will see the addition of a rare new weapon, before the bulk of the additional content lands later in the year. "Details about individual elements of the Expansion Pass will be released in the future", Nintendo wrote in a recent press release.
The Direct discussed details of Blades, which are artificial lifeforms that bond with Drivers like Xenoblade Chronicles 2's main character, Rex. Main character Rex is a Driver and Pyra is a Blade. When players fight alongside their chosen Blade, they might trigger effects that protect the Driver, strengthen attacks and so forth. Selecting different Blades will provide the player with different possible strategies during the real-time combat.
