It's believed Barrett's injury was suffered before kickoff against MI last week when a credentialed photographer collided with Barrett causing his knee to twist awkwardly. Barrett said the issue was a meniscus tear that's bothered him at other points this season, and was aggravated last Saturday when a cameraman bumped into him before the game. Dwayne Haskins finished the game in his place, helping guide Ohio State to a 31-20 win.
J.T. Barrett underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Sunday and is expected to be ready to play in the Championship game on Saturday, according to Tim May of The Columbus Dispatch.
Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer hasn't publicly mentioned that Barrett underwent surgery but said in a Thursday radio appearance that Barrett has been cleared to play against the undefeated Badgers. He was treated by medical personnel and cleared to play in the contest.
"He's going to play in the game", Meyer said.
Ohio State spokesman Jerry Emig said he could not confirm that Barrett underwent surgery following the MI game. "He's gonna play in the game".
