Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) today asked fishermen in both eastern and western coasts not to venture out in the sea for the next three days as heavy rainfall is expected in many areas due to cyclone Ockhi.
"Our karyakartas (workers) should devote themselves to providing all possible assistance and stand shoulder to shoulder with fellow citizens", he added further.
Followng the bad weather in several parts of the state, BJP President Amit Shah too had to cancel his several public meetings in Rajula town of Amreli and Mahuva and Shihor of Bhavnagar district. "During this work, we will not wear any scarves having BJP's election symbol", Sanghvi said.
"Heavy rainfall is likely at a few places with squally wind speed reaching 50 to 60 kms per hour gusting to 70 kms per hour very likely along coastal area in next 24 hours", the IMD said in its report.
The state governments are verifying with the affected villages to find the exact number of missing fishermen.
According to the official, five people from Tamil Nadu and 56 from Kerala suffered injuries after the cyclone which developed on November 30, a day after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning. The Navy has deployed 10 naval ships and eight aircraft, round the clock service late last night for the ongoing rescue operations.
