The former Cornhusker QB will reportedly be formally introduced to Husker fans Sunday at noon. The program's rise to an undefeated record follows an 0-12 mark in 2015.
In addition to head coaching, Frost spent time at OR as wide receivers coach from 2009-13 before being promoted to offensive coordinator from 2013-15.
Inheriting a UCF team that went 0-12 in 2015, Frost got the Knights to six wins in 2016 and then turned in a flawless 12-0 regular season in 2017, capped off by an AAC championship. He also spent time at Northern Iowa as linebackers coach and defensive coordinator in 2007 and 2008.
"I am thrilled that Scott is returning to his alma mater to lead the Husker football program", NU athletic director Bill Moos said in a statement.
In college, Frost played quarterback at Stanford from 1993-94 and Nebraska from 1995-97. Frost finished his Nebraska career with 2,677 pass yards, 1,534 rush yards and 46 total touchdowns.
Frost reflected on his two seasons at UCF in the interview and noted that there are only a few places in the country where he'd like to be the head coach - a list that seemed to include Nebraska.
UCF has had some supporters in the College Football Playoff argument this year due to their undefeated record.
With a win in the conference championship game, the Knights are likely going to find themselves in one of the top bowl games this season. "That's what we've done", Frost said. I am truly humbled to be here.
