Philadelphia 76ers center Jahlil Okafor (8) drives to the basket against New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday (11) during the National Basketball Association game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Orleans Pelicans at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA. That KG/Pierce trade was seriously one of the worst trades in the history of the National Basketball Association.
The Philadelphia 76ers are trading the 21-year-old center to the Brooklyn Nets, per ESPN's Zach Lowe. Not only that, the center logjam would've caused serious problems, and well, it did. Nik Stauskas has not fared much better this season averaging 0.7 points in 7.5 minutes a night across six games. Okafor has played only 12 minutes and Stauskas has played in only 6 games.
Okafor, who has played in just two games this season, said last month he had asked the 76ers for a buyout because he wants to find a team where he "can play". Philly had to surrender what may be a decent second round pick but makes good with Okafor, who they essentially refused to play for most of the past year as they tried to trade him. The coaches have tried, they know what he brings to the table, which is inefficient, but talented, post scoring and nothing else.
Okafor, a former Duke star, should finally see the playing time he's been begging for since he was drafted.
"I would like for them to just send me somewhere where I can get an opportunity", Okafor told ESPN in November.
