Doctors are controlling and limiting his movement as they wait for the swelling and bruising in his back to subside, sources said.
While the Steelers have not provided an update on Shazier's status since announcing his surgery, it is safe to say that his season is over. He stayed at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center on Monday and Tuesday before being transferred to UPMC. Already we know a few Steelers players are planning their own tributes to Shazier with wideout Antonio Brown and defensive back Mike Hilton donning custom cleats for their injured teammate.
Various images of the cleats have emerged on social media, including the Sunday Night Football account and the SportsCenter Twitter account. The fact that this Shazier report surfaced Sunday morning is also a little sickening and I think most of you understand where I'm going with that.
The players likely will only be able to wear them during warmups, as he National Football League has strict rules regarding dress code.
The Steelers and Shazier's camp remains tight-lipped about his condition in general since he unexpectedly underwent surgery on Thursday, so it's hard to gauge exactly what "gradual improvement" actually means.
