We are pleased to extend our thanks and appreciation to you and to the distinguished Committee members for the continuous efforts you have exerted to support and highlight the just Palestinian cause at global forums as well as for the amount of effort you have put in preparing this session's report.
"The Arab countries have clearly expressed their interest in reaching a peaceful solution for the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on global legitimacy, the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative that was proposed by Saudi Arabia more than 15 years ago, and was subsequently adopted by the Arab Summit held in Beirut in 2002 as well as by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation", Al-Sati said in a speech at an event to mark worldwide Day of Solidarity with the Palestine People organised by the Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA) at the Sapru House here.
She concluded, "The road to peace is clear and well known: the establishment of an effective worldwide mechanism to ensure an end to the Israeli occupation under a specific time frame, and the creation of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital based on the borders of 4 June 1967, and the liberation of all occupied Arab territories, including the occupied Syrian Arab Golan".
The resolution of this conflict would create momentum for greater stability throughout the region, he said.
The sovereign regretted that such settlement outposts are in blatant defiance of Security Council resolutions and in violation of all global instruments and resolutions relating to the Palestinian issue. All parties concerned must now resolutely commit to achieving this goal.
The sovereign insisted that Israel, being the occupying power, must respect the historical and legal status of the al-Aqsa Mosque and the al-Aqsa Mosque Compound and stop all unilateral measures aimed at changing the Arab, Islamic and Christian identity of East al-Quds.
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has delivered a message addressed to the Palestinians on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people in which he affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's support for the Palestinian resistance at all international gatherings and full adoption of the Palestinian cause towards achievement of the two-state solution, out of the Kingdom's keenness to promote just peace for the sake of prosperity and peaceful co-existence for all the peoples of the region.
On Tuesday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reiterated India's support for the Palestinian cause.
This is meant to end the occupation and reach an agreement that covers all final-status issues, said HM the King in a message handed, on Wednesday in NY, to the chairman of the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. On that day, in 1947, the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine.
