Start with the final three minutes of the first half. The win sets up a rematch against Pittsburgh next week. Perhaps that's why in the second half he chose to scramble so often - eight times for 53 yards.
While Buffalo's playoff loss is disappointing, Bills fans shouldn't dwell on it for too long.
Sunday's Wild Card game stands as a continuation of a Jaguars season where the win was all that mattered. The Jaguars defeated the Steelers 30-9 on October 8 at Heinz Field.
10-6 record, won AFC South in '17 (3-13 in '16). The tickets are for Sunday's AFC Wild Card playoff game against the Buffalo Bills. The drive ended when Peterman was intercepted by Jalen Ramsey with 32 seconds left.
That's why we should all be behind this team if you have zero skin in the game.
Peterman is of course not the first quarterback to suffer at the hands of the dominant Jacksonville defense this season. Stopped twice inside the 5 in the second quarter, they lined up for a field goal from the 3 and Jacksonville was flagged for a neutral-zone infraction.
A lot has been made about the Knights being held out of the CFP this season, especially after Scott Frost led them to an undefeated regular season. One of those was the touchdown drive that he ended with a 1-yard pass to backup tight end Ben Koyack with 42 seconds left in the third quarter.
Game. Blouses. That was the difference.
Fueled by a miracle berth into the National Football League playoffs, a herd of Buffalo Bills fans charged into Jacksonville Jaguars territory to do what they do best: threaten their well-being with drunken stunts, typically involving one or more folding tables.
Bortles completed 12 of 23 for just 87 yards but repeatedly was able to make critical plays with his legs.
Bills head coach Sean McDermott was gracious in talking about Taylor afterward, preferring to focus on his character, rather than his passing - never a good thing, really, if you're the QB. He stayed down on the field after a gain of two yards as Bills' players surrounded him and trainers examined him.
Was Tony Romo, who called the game for CBS and at one point was laughing at Bortles' lack of precision, the best quarterback in the house on Sunday? After the penalty, Taylor threw two straight incompletions making Stephen Hauschka come out to kick the field goal.
Why no LeSean McCoy there? No matter what happens during the course of a game, he has that belief that he can go down and lead us on any given drive. But McCoy had gotten the Bills down inside the 4-yard line, earning 41 of the Bills' 68 yards on that drive to that point. Officials overturned the completion, saying Clay was out of bounds and setting up a third-and-10 play from the Jacksonville 48-yard line.
McCoy was pretty incredible, all things considered. He had a career-high in rushing, racking up 88 yards on the afternoon.
"I'm sure they're thinking that game was a fluke", Ramsey said. It didn't help that Bortles misfired early and often. However, the Buffalo offense looked flat and lifeless throughout the game.
The Bills have done much worse than Taylor since Jim Kelly retired more than 20 years ago, but they can also do better.
Taylor went down late in the fourth quarter with a head injury. Luckily for him, he'll have at least one more game to prove himself against a Steelers' defense that will present an even bigger challenge than the Bills' did.
