One month before the deal was to be unveiled this week, U.S. lawmakers sent a letter to the Federal Communications Commission asking it to review Huawei's smartphone business, claiming Huawei, which also makes network equipment, "poses a security threat to the United States and to our systems".
But that won't stop Huawei from selling the Mate 10 Pro online and at U-S stores, starting in February. 45 of the world's 50 biggest wireless carriers are customers of Huawei, according to ot the Wall Street Journal. It should be noted that the letter the news outlet reviewed didn't specifically mention AT&T, but reports of the two companies inking an agreement have been widespread long before this development. In it, concerns were raised over the major USA telecommunications carrier's collaboration with Huawei.
A second deal with Verizon is looking unlikely, with the carrier also under political pressure to cancel a planned summer launch of the Mate 10 Pro, according to Android Police. Censorship of various United States platforms - think Twitter, Facebook and Google - also helped to provide a useful vacuum for local players to thrive.
The Microsoft Store and other USA retailers will also offer the more expensive Porsche Design HUAWEI Mate 10 next month. Wonder Woman was one of the highest grossing movies in the US past year and Gal Gadot's performance was appreciated by critics and audiences alike. "Allowing Huawei, ZTE, and other related entities access to US government communications would be inviting Chinese surveillance into all aspects of our lives". At the time, Huawei hit out at global "protectionism".
The lawsuit was filed by Huawei in the US Federal Court for the Northern District of California in San Francisco and the court in Shenzhen of China at the same time at the end of May 2016. The UK's security watchdog also anxious about a telecoms equipment deal between BT and Huawei.
