Unlike many of CBS' other failed attempts at recapturing the half-hour comedy success of "Big Bang Theory", "Young Sheldon" has become the number 1 new comedy of the season with a 2.4 average rating in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic up until this point.

CBS has picked up a second season of Young Sheldon, the network announced Saturday.

"The only manner in which the cast has discussed wrapping [the show] has been that we're all going to be very sad when that day comes", Galecki said.

"Young Sheldon" is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros.

Johnny may be keen to move on from The Big Bang Theory due to the amount of other projects he now has on his plate.

Galecki appeared to promote midseason comedy Living Biblically, which he executive produces, that features his former Roseanne castmate Sara Gilbert in a recurring role.

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS.

The show, according to TV Line is TV's "top-rated, most watched comedy", so it might be a little bit of a blow to CBS. "There were just some politics to be considerate about". But I probably wouldn't have been on Big Bang if it hadn't been for Roseanne.

The veteran actor didn't rule out the option of returning to the show in future seasons, as he said that if the Roseanne reboot returns 'next year to do another eight or nine [shows, he] would love to do more than one'. The series, which counts Big Bang Theory Emmy victor Jim Parsons as an exec producer (and narrator), is the No. 1 new comedy among total viewers (16.2 million) and the advertiser-coveted adults 18-49 demo (4.9) and is the No. 2 comedy on all of TV, behind only its flagship series.
