Multiple neighbors witnessed a young man known for public intoxication walking around the house during the time of the fire. The fire is now being investigated as arson, according to local authorities.
Police have not released the name of the man they believe may have been involved but he is not through to have been motivated by Johnson's remarks about Moore.
Tina Johnson, who came forward in mid November with accusations that Moore groped her in his office in 1991, told Al.com that, although none of her family members were harmed, the fire claimed all of their possessions.
No charges or warrants had been filed as of late Friday afternoon.
The suit laid out almost a dozen instances in which Moore denied knowing Corfman or touching her inappropriately, AL.com reported.
Republican U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore of Alabama called the sexual misconduct allegations 'scurrilous' and 'false'
"We have just the clothes on our backs", she told the website.
Natalie Barton, a spokeswoman for the Etowah County Sheriff's office, told the Daily News that the local arson task force is investigating the blaze and that authorities are speaking to a person of interest.
"I threw on my coveralls and took off down the driveway", he said, adding that his wife called 911, but the dispatcher said the fire had already been reported. "I got up there", he said, "and (the fire) was already pretty well started".
"He's been trouble in the neighborhood for a while", said Tallant, who lives across the street from Johnson and her family.
Johnson and her family are now living in a motel.
"My neighbors are just heartbroken, too", she said.
