"This is old news and our assistance and cooperation with the various investigations remains the same today".
For the first time since launching his investigation, Robert Mueller had subpoenas delivered to the Trump Organisation in recent weeks ordering it to hand over all documents related to Russian Federation and other issues under investigation, The New York Times reported, citing two people briefed on the matter.
Trump has adamantly denied any collusion with Russian Federation as well as any business associations in the country. Beyond the reported fact of the subpoena to the Trump Organization, if it is indeed a fact, every sentence is pumped in to inflate their lack of knowledge into a story.
"Certain documents in the production reference a proposal for 'Trump Tower Moscow, ' which contemplated a private real estate development in Russia", Cohen's statement says. Mueller ordered the Trump Organization to hand over records related to Russian Federation and other topics he is investigating, the people said.
Special counsel Robert Mueller is demanding documents from the Trump Organization, the first known time he has subpoenaed documents directly related to any of President Trump's businesses. Word of the subpoena comes as Mr. Mueller appears to be broadening his investigation to examine the role foreign money may have played in funding Mr. Trump's political activities.
A year ago a spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed that the Kremlin had received an email in January 2016 from the Trump Organisation's chief counsel at the time, Michael Cohen, asking for support for the project.
Alan S. Futerfas, attorney for the Trump Organization, said they have sought to cooperate with the special counsel.
Trump signed a nonbinding "letter of intent" for the project in 2015 and discussed it three times with Cohen, but it was never executed.
Congressional committees also have been investigating Russian Federation and the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign. James Dodson, a longtime golf writer from North Carolina, said offhand in a radio interview that Eric Trump, who oversees the golf courses for the Trump Organization, told him in 2013 that the Trumps relied on Russian investors to back their golf clubs. Since then, Trump has repeatedly denied the two ever met. "So this investigation will certainly be around for several more months, if not longer". Schiff, who saw the GOP report for the first time on Tuesday, said Democrats on the committee would try to continue the investigation where possible and would write their own report to lay out conclusions from the intelligence panel's yearlong investigation into Russian meddling.
Mueller is investigating Russian attempts to influence the 2016 USA election, and potential collusion by Trump aides.
The move also shows that Mueller's investigation has not been able to build a case based on obstruction of justice, because "all the president did was engage in constitutionally authorized acts under the Constitution". According to the Times, Mueller's office has shared topics it wants to discuss with the president.
