Former FBI director James Comey says his belief that Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 presidential election played a role in the way he handled the investigation into her use of a private email sever as secretary of state.
Trump tweeted five times Sunday on the issues.
The President has been highly critical, and public with his criticism, of Mr Comey since firing him in May past year over his handling of the FBI investigation into Mrs Clinton's emails and the inquiry into Russian interference in the election.
The phrase is associated with President George W. Bush, who used it in 2003 during the Iraq war but which dogged him for the rest of his presidency.
"As far as I know", the outgoing Republican leader answered. One of the memos, which was initially reported by the New York Times in May 2017, said that the president encouraged Comey to drop the investigation into ousted National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.
-With files from Reuters. "It was my great honor to fire James Comey!".
Trump slammed Comey on Friday morning and called him a "proven LEAKER & LIAR" and a "weak and untruthful slime ball". That helped Trump and hurt Clinton, not the other way around.
She adds: "I think it's very clear that Comey has a credibility problem".
Trump has denied any such collusion and reportedly has considered firing Mueller, as well as Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein out of anger over the probe. Comey writes that Trump is "ego-driven and about personal loyalty", going on to compare him to a mafia boss who demands loyalty. I was operating in a world where Hillary Clinton was going to beat Donald Trump.
In his testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee previous year, Comey said he believes the President asked him to "drop any investigation of Flynn", a reference to former national security adviser Michael Flynn.
Trump had responded to the book, saying Comey "should be prosecuted".
Trump references a meeting that Bill Clinton - whom he calls "Wild Bill" - and Lynch had on a Phoenix tarmac in July 2016 that was seen as questionable, as Lynch was leading the investigation into Hillary Clinton. Trump wrote. "Was she promised a Supreme Court seat, or AG, in order to lay off Hillary?"
The White House has unleashed a blistering critique of former FBI Director James Comey as he begins promoting his memoir. Lynch accepted Comey's recommendation not to charge Clinton.
