The six months pregnant singer, Samina Samoon was just 24-years-old and was performing at an event in Kanga village in Sindh.
A gunman allegedly shot dead a singer on Tuesday night in Pakistan's Sindh province because she refused to stand up while singing, Dawn reported. Reports suggest that she was shot dead because she reportedly refused to stand up and perform at the event.
The singer's husband, Ashiq Sammoo, reportedly told police Jatoi "threateningly ordered her to stand up and sing", and that he shot and killed her when she declined, citing her pregnancy. She eventually rose from her seat and sang while guests tossed money her way.
The men walk away, but three gunshots can be heard soon afterwards, with the singer collapsing to the ground as soon as the first shot is fired. The woman was later taken to hospital where she was declared brought dead. Her husband has demanded that an FIR against the accused should charge him of a double murder - that of Samina and their unborn child.
The video clip of the murder, which appeared on a Pakistani news portal, was shared on Twitter by Kapil Dev, an Islamabad-based human rights activist.
According to DIG, Larkana, Abdullah Sheikh, the person involved in the killing of Samina Sindhu has been arrested and has been identified as Tariq Jatoi.
