KXIP vs KKR Live Score

When Phil Jackson hired Jeff Hornacek as coach of the New York Knicks two years ago, he had visions of pairing Carmelo Anthony and Kristaps Porzingis on a playoff team.

The Knicks reportedly intend to contact Wright to gauge his interest in replacing Jeff Hornaceck, whom they fired Thursday morning after two losing seasons.

His top assistant, Kurt Rambis, was also fired.

The Lakers aren't good yet, but the guys who are already in purple and gold could be key pieces in a very good team.

The good news for Knicks fans is that on Thursday both executives laid out a plan that should leave them feeling cautiously optimistic. He led New Orleans to two playoff appearances under some tough circumstances and went on to coach with the Thunder before leaving the team following the tragic death of his wife in 2016. The immediate list of candidates has featured retreads and/or those with past ties to the franchise, but the New York Daily News has reported the Knicks will reach out to Jay Wright about the job opening. A coaching legend in Europe, Blatt had a 83-40 record in his year and half with the Cavs, including a berth in the Finals in his lone full season of National Basketball Association coaching experience.

"We progressed in some areas and were lacking in others", Mills said, according to the Post. "I think his commitment from a financial resource that he's given us to player development are indicators for how important he thinks a long-term growth process is for how it is we do things".

The Knicks did not give a timeline for hiring a new coach.

The Knicks made the decision shortly after beating Cleveland on Wednesday night to finish a 29-53 season.

That summer, Jackson added the Chicago veterans Noah and Rose, telling friends he had assembled the fourth-best team in the East. With the potential of maximum cap space next summer and Porzingis due to become a free agent, they can not screw up this hire under any circumstance. I just love going to work every day.

For now, though, all we can do is look at the information in front of us, albeit with a cautious eye.

Damyean Dotson, the Knicks' second-round pick, flashed a few times at the end of the year but couldn't find consistent minutes.

Mills said that the club's next coaching hire - who will be the team's 11th head coach since the 2000-01 season - will need to "understand today's player". Mills and Perry apparently weren't pleased with the results, though they knew the Knicks were rebuilding with younger players.

Mills and Perry hope that taking a patient approach to their rebuild will yield better results.
