Along with her sister Khushi Kapoor and father Boney Kapoor, Janhvi accepted the award from President Ram Nath Kovind at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi last evening. Sridevi had for all her years in the industry been an icon of sophistication and charm.
The late actor, Sridevi, was recognised with an award at the 65th National Film Awards in Delhi.
Not many would have realised but Sridevi had worn this saree for the first time at Ram Charan's wedding back in 2013. She truly deserves it and she has been around for nearly 50 years and done nearly 300 films (MOM was her 300th film). Sridevi, Boney Kapoor's wife, has been chosen for the Best Actor (female) category for her role in 'Mom'. This's the highest honour. We wish she was here with us.
Boney Kapoor who is keeping Sridevi alive on Twitter connected with her fans once again and shared pictures of the National Award. Janhvi will also follow her mother's footsteps and will soon be seen in her Bollywood debut film opposite Ishaan Khattar, Dhadak, on July 6. "Finally, unfortunately after she has left, that she has been awarded with this honour", reports news agency IANS. We don't know if we should feel elated, laugh with joy, or cry while remembering her. So, the I&B "s decision of personally giving away only 11 awards by the President of India was not taken well by the rest of the awardees". Speaking to reporters, Boney Kapoor said, "She would have been happy being here. It is a proud moment for all of us but sadly she is not here".
At the venue, when Sridevi's name was being announced, Boney Kapoor broke down as he was sitting with his daughters.
