A dragon float involved in a parade at Disney's Magic Kingdom caught on fire on Friday. Luckily, no one was injured during the incident but it definitely caused everyone in the area to be on full alert. There were no injuries to employees or visitors, it was reported.
The dragon, representing the "Sleeping Beauty" character Maleficent, is supposed to breathe fire, but instead, its head caught fire. "...the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade is a thrilling sight-and-sound spectacular that winds its way through the streets of Magic Kingdom park each afternoon".
Local firefighters responded to the fire, but it had already been extinguished by the time they arrived.
In the usual performance of the parade, the dragon's head shoots a blast of fire from its nose, timed to the parade's score.
The spokeswoman said the company was still in the process of figuring out what went wrong. Another cast member brings up the rear, while additional costumed workers - including one portraying Prince Phillip battling the beast - travel by foot.
